InsureTech Connect (ITC), Digital Insurance Agenda (DIA), Celent and Latin America Insurance Fund (LAIF) announced the launch of the Latin America chapter of the ITC + DIA World Tour, which took place from September 14 to 18. Within the framework of the online event, the Chilean company LISA Insurtech Team was also announced as the winner of the “Latam Challenge and Pitch Competition” to find the best digital insurance startup in Latin America. This company will perform at the ITC Global World Tour Pitch competition from September 21-23.
“It was a wonderful experience for me to share ideas, work experiences and knowledge with Caribou Honig, John Swigart, Sabine VanderLinden, Juan Mazzini, Karlyn Carnahan and Manuel Escobedo. It is clear that insurtechs are transforming the insurance industry ”, stated Eduardo Iglesias, co-founder and managing partner of LAIF.
In turn, Manuel Escobedo, president of Grupo Peñaverde, commented on how his company approaches innovation with the aim of optimizing its entire value chain, from sales to underwriting and claims processing. Sabine Van der Linden, Founder, CEO and Partner at Alchemy Crew, also explained how startups could play different roles in the digital transformation process for players bringing open innovation to the insurance industry.
Additionally, Karly Carnahan, from Celent, mentioned that less than 33% of small businesses that buy offline today would be happy to do so digitally, which leaves an important market that can be worked on in the future.
“In summary, the event returns a very positive photograph of the insurtech in Latin America, on which we have to continue growing from this point towards new business models, more technology and innovation”, concluded Iglesias.
It should be noted that Digital Insurance Agenda is an event company focused on insurance technology, whose mission is to accelerate innovation by connecting insurance executives with insurtech leaders. Latin America Insurance Fund (LAIF) is a corporate investment capital fund dedicated to investing in startups that add value to the insurance industry; and Celent is a consulting, advisory and research firm that provides technology and corporate strategy in the financial services industry.
